Up In Smoke: 4/20/2010 @ Norlin Quadrangle, CU Campus, Boulder, CO

This is my first attempt at Time Lapse taken at yesterday’s 420 (April 20, 2010) festivities overlooking Norlin Quadrangle on the CU Campus in Boulder, CO. In the video, 4:20pm comes around the :45 second mark as you’ll notice a thicker cloud of smoke emanating from the crowd. There’s a lot going on in the video and it takes a couple views paying attention to certain people and aspects to catch all it has to offer. One of my favorite parts, the bundle of balloons you see eventually gets dispersed and released into the air.

Here’s the tech specs for anyone interested:
Nikon D90, AF-S Nikkor DX 18-200mm 3.5-5.6 G ED @ f/8, 1/160 shutter, ISO 200. A frame every 3 seconds using Promote Control. Using 255 frames at around 5.5 frames a second for the video.

In hindsight I should have captured frames every 1 second and used a ND filter to decrease shutter speed to make it a bit smoother. Stay tuned for my next attempt.
